Things to do in the Hudson Valley


Cultural Activities


Dia Beacon has an amazing collection of large scale minimalist sculpture and other amazing works from the latter 20th Century, housed in a renovated old Nabisco factory on the Hudson.

Storm King is an outdoor sculpture park set in a gorgeous landscape.

Nearby Cold Spring is a charming small town on the river and a great place for eating, drinking, staying in the local B&Bs or spending an afternoon antique shopping.

Boscobel, right up the street from The Garrison, is an historic estate on the river and a great place for a picnic.

Design buffs may like Manitoga, a 20th Century Modern home designed by industrial designer and ecologist Russel Wright.

Chuang-Yen
, is a Buddhist Monestary you can visit in Kent, NY.

Outdoorsy Stuff

You can see Bear Mountain State Park across the river from The Garrison. It's a great spot for hiking, biking, fishing, etc.

The Appalachian Trail passes right through Garrison. The segment in Bear Mountain State Park is a popular day hike.

Hudson Highlands State Park is very close and also has great hiking, birding, etc. and another segment of the Appalachian trail.
